The Government of Mexico and Its Cartel

Date:

By: Onofre Jusino, Ph.D.

Mexico is located in the south of the USA and has a population of about 127 million people. The size of its border with the US is close to 1,955 miles long. It has an army of approximately 278,000 soldiers and 82,000 reservists. Its president Mr. Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has been in politics for the last 3 decades.

The majority of the people of Mexico like to work, but they say that there are not enough opportunities for many of them and immigration is the only alternative that they have to survive. For other Mexicans, the alternative is to work by transferring drugs and narcotics to the US by TONS without having to worry about being caught by the police or the authorities of Mexico because the corruption is very high, and many at the top level in the government are paid to look the other way, including police, judges, and government officials.

The great majority of the Mexican people think that the campaigns of some government members, including governors, mayors, and presidents are paid by the bosses of the Cartel that deal with the drugs and narcotics in Mexico, so at the high level of the government they can look the other way too and keep the political support that they receive from these drugs dealers.

The Cartel in Mexico is the one that the Mexican people point to as the one appointing and supporting the government’s officials, signaling that this is why the capture of high-ranking bosses from the Cartel is not apprehended by the police. That also, is why the government of Mexico allows so many immigrants to pass through their borders toward the US without any legal inconvenience, besides giving that “alternative” as part of the government’s jobs.

The THOUSANDS of people that enter the US through Mexico EVERY DAY, come from all over the world, and MANY of them with all kinds of bad situations including mental issues, criminal records, health problems and diseases, bad attitudes or behavior, radical and terrorist extremist ideas, etc. Some are checked out by the Border Patrol and the Immigration Officials, but others enter through tunnels, hidden in vehicles, with no documents at all, or just crossing the border from any part of the 1,955 miles long that could be without some sections of the wall that was constructed years ago which is a NATIONAL SECURITY issue that has to be completed.

When a situation of this magnitude is affecting the lives of millions of people that are living LEGALLY in the US, the first question that should come to our mind should be what can be done and WHY it hasn’t been done yet…

I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE YOUR OPINION.
